Concerning Wizards
For an extremely long period of time, the existence of Wizards has been one of obscurity. Wizards were unknown, inconspicuous, unimportant creatures who only existed in fiction. And then came Harry Potter, and with him came the questions everyone seems to desperately want answered: are Wizards real? Do Wizards really exist? The answer to both these questions is yes, we are real and we do exist.
Curiosity concerning magick has, for the most part, been directed to Witches, with the general consensus being that magickal acts are only performed by Witches. But this assumption is not now, nor has it ever been, correct, as Wizards are magickal creatures as well. We do not, by nature, make our existence as readily known as Witches do, preferring to maintain ourselves, not in secrecy per se, but in a more subtle privacy. Our magick is both similar and quite different than that of Witches. We have existed throughout history, and we still exist today, in the present, and we will continue to exist long after everyone's Potter fervor has vanished.
We are both male and female. And, no, female Wizards are not called Witches. Rather, they are also known as Wizards. We do not practice Witchcraft, we practice Sorcery, which is generally frowned upon because it is considered a "Dark Art." Yet Sorcery, as every other form of magick without exception, is not "Dark" in itself. It is the intent and purpose of the practitioner which determines whether a magickal act is "Dark" or not. Therefore, simply because Wizards practice Sorcery does not mean that we can all be categorized as "Dark" and "evil." Wizards maintain a low profile because we choose to do so not because we have to do so. It is not that we are ashamed; rather, it is because we do not feel the need to vaunt to the world that we are here.
